Finally we have our first Asian spokesperson for MAC cosmetics - Taiwan native pop singer A Mei!

Being a diva in the Mandarin pop music scene, A Mei has faithful fans all around the world, and has sold over 10 billion copies of albums. Although I’m not particularly crazy about her, she is one of the few singers that I truly admire for their strong vocal and charismatic voice.

And I must say that her songs are difficult to render. I dare not attempt to sing her songs in karaoke sessions. I figure I will only make a silly fool out of myself. :P

It’s great to see that MAC has come up with a limited edition A Mei series of eye and lip colors that reflect the bold, passionate and warm nature of her Puyuma origin.

A Mei: 3 Neutral Eyes

I personally like the Bold Eyes eye shadow combination. However, personality wise, I’m not bold enough to wear that and out of my house. :P

Bye bye Winter, hello Spring!

With all the year end festive and holidays becoming part of our memories, it’s now show time for the bright and cheerful colors of spring! And what is a better way to start 2008 afresh with Bobbi Browns’ limited-edition Pink Raspberry Face Palette?

I used to be so obsessed with pink when I was around 12 or 13 years old. Pink blouse, pink jeans, pink shoes. Basically pink from top to toe, haha! Then on one fine day, after several years, I got so fed up with pink and decided not to love this soft, girlish, romantic color anymore.

Don’t ask me for what reasons I fell in and out of love with pink coz I couldn’t figure out it myself. I guess it’s probably part of a girl’s growing up thing, haha.

But incredibly, after so many years, today I found myself being charmed by the spell of pink and fell in love with this hue all over again. Don’t worry, I will never dress myself up in a full pink theme again, haha!

The pink fever I’m experiencing currently is limited to - gadgets (e.g. laptop, mouse, camera) in pink (which only could be in my wish list for the time being), blusher in pink (like my Bobbi Brown pink shimmer brick compact), shiny lip gloss in pink, and My Yahoo! page in pink theme. ;)

I love pink blushers because I find it the easiest way to create healthy, rosy cheeks, which instantly ‘youthful-ize’ my appearance, hehe.

No, this is not me. I’m definitely not that pretty! :D She is the model for Bobbi Brown Pink Raspberry Spring 2008 Collection. See, ain’t she look juicy sweet with her pink, rosy cheeks and lips?

I could very well create that look with:

Bobbi Brown Limited-edition Pink Raspberry Face Palette

pink-raspberry-pink-palette.jpg

Comes with a sleek mirror and features cool pink raspberry shades: two neutral eye shadows (Navajo and Fog), two lip sheers (raspberry and blue raspberry), and a blush in pink raspberry.

… And Pink Raspberry Glitter Lip Gloss.

This lip gloss contains delicate flecks of glitter that reflect light to give your lips a luscious look.

The task may be easier and more effective if I have the right tools like the Limited-edition Pink Raspberry Mini Brush Set.

pink-raspberry-mini-brush-set.jpg

Mini brushes for blush, eye shadow, eye liner and lip with protective cap all in a soft zip-around case with pink raspberry interior. An useful and lovely traveling companion!

But (there is big BUT) since Christmas is over, and Santa won’t be sending out any gifts for the next 11 months, who would be so kind to help me fulfill my pink wish list? ;)

I know nothing about mineral makeup, and haven’t used any either. I supposed mineral makeup is called as such because they are “made of all natural, finely ground minerals from the earth, without any of the chemicals, dyes, and preservatives found in traditional makeup“.

Mineral makeup products may have already mushroomed in the local market, but I am not aware of any. I only knew from reading a magazine recently, that L’oreal Paris has come out with its mineral loose powder Bare Naturale with SPF 19.

L’Oreal Paris Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Makeup SPF19

L’Oreal Paris Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Makeup, SPF19 sunscreen

  • For flawless coverage and skin-improving benefits; safe for sensitive skin.
  • Contains pure powdered minerals: kaolin, iron oxides, mica, copper, boron nitride, calcium, manganese, magnesium, bismuth, titanium oxide
  • Also contains vitamins E and B5 and soothing aloe
  • Known benefits: controls shine, flawless coverage, adds luminosity, smooths and firms, softens and refines, sunscreen
  • Provides coverage of a foundation with the weightlessness of a powder
  • Gentle for sensitive skin, won’t clog pores; non-irritating, non-acnegenic, non-drying
  • Comes with a Kabuki brush made from 100% natural bristles to create a natural, healthy glow and mattifies the skin

So far, there is a mixture of good and bad reviews on this product. So, you may like to first read up more about mineral makeup to see if it’s what you want to try, before picking up a bottle of L’Oreal Paris Bare Naturale Gentle Mineral Makeup from the store (if it ever arrives in Malaysia… or has it?).

p/s: Personally I would be very happy to ‘experiment’ with it if I am given a sample, hehe. :P

Nov 1

Last Saturday I accompanied my sister to shop for a pair of white high heels at MidValley. We went into MetroJaya but came out empty handed.

As I passed by the cosmetic counters, I was surprised to see a Benefit counter there. Before this I thought there was only one Benefit counter in KLCC. I didn’t stop to look at anything, but something caught my eyes and kept me wondering all the way home.

I thought I saw a pencil case. You know, those rectangular shaped pencil cases made from metal that we used when we were in primary school? But this pencil case has a very beautiful lady printed on its cover.

Of course that ‘pencil case’ is NOT a pencil case. I did some searching and realized that it is a body balm called Body So Fine.
Body So Fine

This flirtatiously scented balm is pure body seduction. Slip some on to arms, legs, decollete, anywhere you want luminescent luxury. The silky velvet finish is slightly naughty and totally irresistible…it’s all you will want to wear! The fragrance of white blossoms is like an aphrodisiac!

I think one of the factors that make Benefit cosmetics so fun to own and to use is the way they name and describe their products. Even before you start to use it, reading the name and the description of the products already made you feel good, cheerful, naughty, happy, sexy, alluring… every thing a woman should be.
;)

I myself am using Dr. Feelgood and Benetint. I love them!

Dr. Feelgood
If there is a body balm, certainly there is balm for the face too. I use it after moisturizer and, sometimes, before foundation. It provides some extent of oil control and gives a smooth, velvety finish to my face. I especially love its smell - so pleasant. The smell reminds me of something way deep down in my memory, but I just couldn’t figure what that ‘something’ is.
;)
Dr Feelgood

This invisible refiner, blended with Vitamin C helps to smooth away the appearance of fine lines while leaving skin feeling and looking more silky, flawless and matte to the touch. It’s a colorless, weightless miracle worker.

Benetint
I think this is a fun product to use! By just drawing three stripes of the rose-colored tint across the apple of my cheeks, and blending the color with my fingertips, I immediately get a very natural, healthy, rosy glow on my face. Super easy! And I like its rose-syrup kind of fragrance too. Although it can also be used on the lips, I prefer to use it on the face only.
Benetint

The sexiest flush you can get from a bottle. Innocent yet provocative, our rose tinted cheek stain is see through color that endures it all… even in the thralls of passion.

There are so many other Benefit products that I would like to try, but their prices are too high, I can’t afford to buy more than two items per year, hehe. But I can still have a wish list, right?

The next Benefit product that I would like to have is the 10 Palette, which contains a duo powder blusher, a light eye shadow, a medium eye shadow and two shades of silky finish lipsticks. Good for traveling purpose. However, this is a limited edition item. It may no longer available by the time I save up enough money for it.
:(

10 Palette

This powder duo bronzes & highlights in one sexy sweep to give you sleek, sculpted cheekbones. We’ve chosen two seductive shades for lips & complimentary shades for your eyes. We like to call it “sexy to the max.” Limited edition.

Well, I don’t think I have to worry too much. I believe Benefit will come out with something similar or even better in the future. But I hope some day they will consider lowering the prices of their cosmetics in order to Benefit more women, so that all of us can look and feel good.

What is your mood today? What colors should you wear? Why not let Lancome’s Destiny Cube (RM180) set your mood and guide your color code for today.

Destiny CubeThe unique cubic design of this palette was inspired by the 18th century Chinese boxes. Inside this multi-faceted contraption there are two eye shadows on one side and a lipstick and gloss on the other.

Available in two, limited-edition color palettes:
- Charisma (light pink lip products with brown and violet shadows)
- Deep Fascination (red and burgundy lip products with light green and pale pink shadows).

Will you be a mysterious lady? Are you in the mood to flirt? Should you feel like a star? Let the Destiny Cube reveal your destiny today. Play the game by throwing it like a pair of dice on the table, and let the signs or words on the cube help you choose the harmonious color combination.

It’s a cool make-up palette AND toy, don’t you think? You can have fun while adorning your face with colors that reflect your mood- and attitude-of-the-day.

Errr, guys, if you see your girlfriend wearing the color of jealousy today, you’d better watch your behavior…

Make-up products from CLIO - look interesting huh?

I bought two items - an automatic eyeliner and a lip gloss - from CLIO @Gurney Plaza last week.

Automatic eyeliner, RM59

CLIO automatic eyeliner

I have never used an eyeliner before, but I have seen how it can open up your eyes and make them look more interesting. I guess it’s not too late to start to (learn to) use one now!

As for lip gloss, I have quite a number of them, but I still ended up buying another one because I like the convenient design of the casing and applicator. Well, it may not be something new, but it’s my first time seeing it.
:P

CLIO Sexy Shine Lips, RM52

CLIO Sexy Shine LipsCLIO Sexy Shine Lips
CLIO Sexy Shine Lips

I’ve tried the lip gloss and like it. It really gives your lips a shiny and voluminous look. Very kissable!
:D

According to the promoter, these are products from Korea, but made in Europe (?). For example, the automatic eyeliner I bought was made in Germany, while the lip gloss in France. Somehow, the products are all sent to Korea, packaged there and marketed as Korean products. Confused….

Anyway, I could say that their packaging looks very attractive, particularly the blushers and eye shadows. You can check them out in their Korean homepage (can only look at the photos, unless you can read Korean).

So far, there are only two CLIO shops in the whole Malaysia - one in Penang island (Gurney Plaza) and the other one Butterworth. While I saw their products listed on Sasa’s web site, I’m not sure if they are also available in our local Sasa stores. Hmm, may be I should find it out this weekend.

It’s the time of the year where every one starts to plan for their yearly vacation, or Christmas party, or year end shopping spree, because everybody’s pocket is eagerly waiting for that bonus cheque to slip in.

If you are contemplating what beauty products to buy yourself with the big, fat bonus, why not go to your nearest Clinique counter and check out their Holiday 2007 Collection? Here are some of them:
Clinique Fresh Bloom Allover ColourClinique Colour Surge Eye Shadow QuadClinique Long Last Soft Shine LipstickClinique Full Potential Lips Plump and Shine

Left to right: Fresh Bloom Allover Colour Blusher, Colour Surge Eye Shadow Quad, Long Last Soft Shine Lipstick
Bottom: Full Potential Lips Plump and Shine.

They look really nice eh? I especially love Fresh Bloom Allover Colour that uses a floral design to carry the different shades of the blusher. Too bad I can’t afford to get one myself, coz I have no pay cheque, no bonus.
:(

Unless someone is so kind to buy them as a Christmas gift for me, hehe.
